External SATA Cable Connectors & Cable Assembly

Circuit Assembly is an active member of the Serial ATA (SATA) Working Group formed in 1999. Other member companies include APT Technologies, Dell, IBM, Intel, Maxtor, Quantum and Seagate Technologies. The emerging standard is designed to be the successor to the current ATA-100 standard.

CA's board mount connectors are available in right angle and vertical configurations. The right angle is available in standard and reverse pin-out. The vertical connector has multiple functions allowing it to be utilized as a standard board mount connector or incorporated into a cable/panel mount assembly.

ESATA Cable Assembly Features

External Serial ATA meets the demand for faster, more reliable data transfer with better performance than existing external solutions, up to 6 times faster than USB/1394. The connectors are designed to withstand 2500 insertions/extractions with an increased insertion depth of 6mm.

Fully shielded connectors with metal on all sides ensure good ground path to minimize EMI emissions. In addition, retention spring clips on board mount connectors along with detents on cable mount connectors are designed to prevent accidental dislodging of cable.
